Matheran.!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thinking of Matheran, the 'Hill Station' itself makes you feel very cool. Matheran means being closer to god, because you are so close to the nature out there, it makes you feel that you have reached heaven.
Last year we went on a trip to Matheran. We had decided to combine the pleasure of the trip with the study of the environment. We all left at the crack of dawn. At Neral we boarded a small blue toy train that took us along the side of the hills to Matheran. The vegetation was dense and climate was humid on the way up.
The scenary at matheran was simply enchanting. There were cries of delight from all sections of the little train as it turned around one colourful bend after the other. After getting down at the station we walked few steps and reached the place where we had made our advance hotel bookings.
We stayed two days at Matheran. We started the day with sightseeing. We went to Echo Point, One tree hill, Charlotte Lake, Suicide point, Monkey Point, etc and on the way we also collected specimens of leaves of various trees of the deciduous forest of matheran. The view from all points was fantabulous.
That evening we made it to the porcupine point also known as the sunset point in matheran riding on horsebacks, the view was ecstatic and this point is the best point of matheran not to be missed.
The next early morning we started for Panorama Point (Sunrise Point), all of us riding horses reached there at our earliest not to miss the 'beginning of the day'. Amazingly, on our way back we got hot 'Mumbai Vada-pav's' and hot tea which is the best combination.
We played few games and spent our evening round a campfire - singing songs, presenting mimicry items, playing dumbsheras, cracked jokes. Matheran hotels serve delicious food really.
While returning home back from matheran we decided to go down on foot. The trek down was song-filled and full of fun. Our trip to Matheran was a memorable one, it was indeed enjoyable.
Just visit Matheran once and you will know what it feels like to be out from the daily hustle-bustle and close to the nature !!!!!!!!!!! |
